AYL TRACK & FIELD
REGISTRATION FOR THE SPRING 2025 SEASON WILL OPEN IN MARCH.
The Adena Youth League Track and Field is an organization for athletes interested in learning about the sport and participating in track meets. Participants can compete in fun instructional meets or they can sign up for competitive meets such as the USATF Junior Olympics. Goals are to have fun and learn correct technique.
Who: Athletes ages 6-12. Birth certificates must be on file to participate.
Where: Adena High School track
Practices: To Be Determined. We will have to schedule around middle school and high school practices and meets. Weather can also be a factor. Team practices will be end of April until beginning of June. Please note that construction at our athletic complex with the Warrior Wellness Center may affect us getting time on the track.
Attendance Policy: This program is designed to have kids enjoy the sport of track and field. If your child misses practice for another sport, vacation, appointment, etc., there is no penalty for missed practices or meets.
Coaches: We have VOLUNTEERS who have experience from high school and college track teams.
Communication: We will have a GroupMe thread for announcements such as weather cancellations. Announcements will also be posted on the Facebook page – Adena Youth League Track & Field
Fees: $35 – This fee covers a team tank top, award ribbons, youth equipment costs and insurance. Track shoes/spikes ARE NOT required to participate in practices or meets. If the participant chooses to enter competitive meets, there is a fee to be paid to the USATF.
Meets: One of the reasons we have started this program is that there are no local opportunities for kids. We hope to have enough interest so that we can have a meet at home with our own kids. Adena has been invited to a fun meet at Logan Elm. This will be in early June. There are also three other fun instructional meets that Adena is invited to but involves travel. They are held in June in Mason, Ohio, Lebanon, Ohio and Xenia, Ohio. Participants are not required to attend, but they are very fun to experience. There are also opportunities to enter into competitive meets in the Cedarville/Dayton/Columbus area if participants are interested. These types of meets help the older kids especially get used to how a Junior High and High School meet is conducted. However, 6 year olds may enter these.
Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×100 relay, 4×400 relay, shot put, long jump, high jump, javelin. If we have older kids sign up, they can try discus and hurdles.
